Mechanical Failures-Milk Ranch No. 1

An overflow crowd of Pine and Strawberry water users learned this morning, Saturday, that it was mechanical failures at Milk Ranch No. 1 and the Strawberry Hollow filter building that disrupted water service from June 18 to 23.

In a public meeting held in the Pine Cultural Hall, CH2MHill officials, including Payson District Manager Brad Cole, provided a step by step overview of an investigation that has been ongoing for more than a month.

Cole explained, day by day during the outage, what was occurring and what corrective actions CH2MHill took at the time.

He called the failures at the two wells, “A perfect storm.”

Cole continued to tell what is being done to prevent future occurrences and took time to dispel rumors, about outage causes, that have been circulating around the two mountain hamlets.

See the July 31 edition of the Payson Roundup for complete coverage of the meeting.

Wonder why they didn't put out that news a month ago?

It took 39 days! Like you say Pat why did it take so long to hold a public meeting? The press conference that was promised in the Roundup article right after, did not happen. Good PR performance with plenty of back slapping and politics from the PSWID board. I still don't really know who messed up and how? At least the board backed off from blaming three employees that just left, two fired and one resigned in protest. The key guy Shafer really really knew the water system inside and out but I guess he upset someone somehow. He is still well respected, liked and missed and he was previously praised by the board for helping them so much right after acquisition. We heard that two booster stations failed and I know that four were recently reworked prior to the system failure so my guess is as good as yours.

Correction to Roundup, Brad Cole (CH2M Hill) works out of the PSWID office in Pine not Payson.
