Ponderosa Men’s Breakfast

Rim Country men — residents and visitors alike — are invited to enjoy Breakfast for a Buck at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 2 at Ponderosa Bible Church, 1800 N. Beeline Highway, Payson.

The breakfast is prepared by Keith Talley and his crew and the accompanying meeting will also feature Larry Derocher, speaking about “Life, divine appointments, and thanking God for answered prayers.”

American Legion Riders

The Payson American Legion Riders monthly meeting is Saturday, June 2 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260., Payson.

Breakfast is at 9:15 a.m., with a business meeting to follow at 10 a.m. Topics of discussion will include the directors’ reports on the financial results for the recent Fun Run for Payson Supply Line.

Democratic HQ grand opening is Saturday

The Democratic Club of Northern Gila County has scheduled June 2 for the Grand Opening of its 2012 Headquarters. The headquarters is located at 1101 S. Beeline Highway, between the south Circle K and Sunshine Carpet Cleaners in Payson. Refreshments will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Payson Living Word Bible Church

Randy Phillips will be at Payson Living Word Bible Church at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, June 3 at 500 E. Rancho Road in the Payson Elementary School.  

Unity of Payson

The Rev. Konrad Kaserer, most recently from Unity of Flagstaff, will be the guest speaker at the June 3 Unity of Payson service. Kaserer will speak about “Ancient Wisdom — New and Practical Applications” from the book Lessons in Truth.

Unity of Payson Sunday services are at 10 a.m. at the office of the Central Arizona Board of Realtors, 600 E. Highway 260, Suite 14, next to Tiny’s Restaurant.

Overeaters Anonymous

Are you a compulsive overeater? Do you eat when you’re not hungry? Do you go on eating binges for no apparent reason? Do you give too much time and thought to food?

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community Room, 807 W. Longhorn Road.

There are no fees or dues. The only membership requirement is a desire to not compulsively overeat anymore.

Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

Westerners have been attracted to Buddhism in part because of its practical aspects. The basic teachings of Buddhist philosophy are simple and applicable in daily life. It is a guide to transforming human suffering into wisdom, inner peace and enlightenment through understanding the nature of self and reality, and through compassion. Buddhists believe that we are each responsible for our own morality by the choices that we make.

Friendship Bible Class

The Payson Masonic Lodge #70 F&AM meets every Tuesday at 200 E. Rancho Road. The business meeting is on the second Tuesday and is preceded by a dinner at 5:30 p.m. and followed by an informative presentation.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America will meet at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the American Legion Post #69, located at 709 E. Highway 260.

Masons’ drawing

The Masons’ 2012 Fund-raiser is a Big 3 Gun Raffle. Tickets are $10 each and are not tax deductible. However, only 500 tickets will be sold.

The firearms to be raffled are a Remington 1911 .45 Caliber Pistol, Henry Big Boy 44 Mag Rifle and a CZ-USA Mallard 12 Gauge over/ under shotgun that was winner of Outdoor Life’s 2004 Best Rifle/ Shotgun.

The holder of the first winning ticket gets choice of one of three weapons available; second winning ticket get choice of one of two remaining weapons; third winning ticket gets remaining weapon.

The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets at Tiny’s Restaurant every week at 9 a.m. to visit and plan future activities.

Living Scripture study

Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 1000 N. Easy St., will host a series of six Wednesday evening discussions of the Holy Bible in historic and modern times. All interested members of the Payson community are invited to join the discussion and chance to learn and share in a perfection-free zone. Sessions are at 7 p.m. in the parish hall.
