Have Your Blood Pressure Checked Saturday

Tonto Village, Bear Flat and Christopher Creek were blessed with some rain and snow on Monday and early Tuesday. It didn’t amount to a whole lot, maybe about a quarter of an inch or a bit more. But at this point we will take what we can get, since we need the moisture so badly. The wind was a bit much, blowing about 30 mph, but that blew the clouds to the Rim. I have not heard how much snow the Rim got.

Hellsgate Fire Department Tomorrow morning, (Saturday), the Hellsgate firefighters will be at the Lamplighter Community Room in Star Valley to administer blood pressure checks from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The Fireflies Auxiliary will also be on hand to talk about the benefit events that are planned for the auxiliary in May with the Memorial Weekend breakfast and the Labor Day weekend BBQ. The auxiliary is always happy to accept volunteers to help to raise funds for the Hellsgate firefighters. Firefighter Jeff Plante and his wife, Paula, will be administering the blood pressure checks and Linda Stailey and Janet Snyder will also be there to talk about the Fireflies. The next event will be at the Bashas’ Festival that is being held on Saturday, April 21 in the Bashas’ parking lot. The Hellsgate Fire Department will be there with a fire truck and blood pressure checks and the Fireflies will be there to sell raffle tickets and Hellsgate T-shirts. The Festival is a popular event with many people showing up for the food and the many varied booths selling a variety of merchandise. Mark this day on your calendar. The Hellsgate Fire Board will be holding their March meeting on Wednesday, March 14 at the Star Valley Fire station on 80 S. Walters Lane. The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. Certificates will be awarded to Angie Lecher, finance business manager, and to firefighters John Jackson and Len Trujillo for years of service. Birthdays There are many birthdays this month, including my hubby, Bill, on March 9. It is hard to believe that he will be 77 this month. It seems that I have know him forever, well almost. He was 21 and just out of the Army when we met on New Year’s Eve in 1956-57. Bill, another year, another birthday means another year of memories. Let’s celebrate!!! Love you, Hon! Other birthdays are: Joan Norem of Tonto Village III and Mesa on March 1; Hellsgate firefighter Martha Bartlett on March 4; Hellsgate firefighter Matt Highstreet on March 6; and Tonto Village III resident Eric Kirchhoefer, March 7, Hellsgate firefighter Nick ‘Trey’ Shill. On March 8, my good fishing buddy Theresa Meeker, of Tonto Village II and Scottsdale, adds another candle to her birthday cake. On March 12, Kent Mortenson of Tonto Village III and Tempe can cut his birthday cake and celebrate another year. Double D Doings
