Daughters of the American Revolution

The March meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 9 at the Payson Public Library. The program will be by Sandy Carson, who will be speaking on “Women in Arizona History.”

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health & Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road, Payson. (After turning in driveway, turn right at first driveway. OA meets in the Community Room in the center of the facility’s apartment complex.)

Soroptimists celebrate Women’s History Month

There are lots of events planned by the local Soroptimist club for March, which is National Women’s History Month.

The Soroptimists’ Annual Awards Banquet will be held at Tiny’s Restaurant from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 10. Approximately $3,000 will be awarded to local women that night. Tickets for the event are $16 each. Contact Vliet Hulse at (928) 476-2925 for more information.

Unity of Payson

One of Unity’s beliefs is “Heaven is not a place, but a state of consciousness; we create our own heaven and hell here and now.”

Rev. Kim O’Connor, a support minister at Inspirational Unity and Unity of Phoenix, will speak with members of Unity of Payson on “Don’t Fear the Fire” at the 10 a.m. service, Sunday, March 11.

XaLt! Worship is aimed at people who wish to explore their walk with God; seekers, de-churched and anyone with questions.

Photo and camera club to meet Monday

The Rim Country Photography/ Camera Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 12. Peg and Rex Lavoie will the featured presenters.  The Lavoies are volunteers at the Tonto National Monument and pioneered a park service program leading guided photography tours to the Upper Ruins. Please see the Living Section of today’s paper for more information on Peg and Rex.

The meeting is open to all those interested in photography and there is no charge to attend. The club meets at Rim Country Apartments (new name, same location), 809 W. Longhorn Road. Rim Area Gardeners

Rim Area Gardeners meet at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month at Church of Christ, 401 E. Tyler Parkway.

On Monday, March 12, Cayce Vuksanovich will speak on “Healthy, Hardy House Plants.” Vuksanovich is well known for her lively presentations and has a great following.

The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.

Payson Area Singles

This group has no dues, and no elections.

The “Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch” meets at Tiny’s Restaurant every week at 9 a.m. to visit and plan future activities. On the schedule:

Friday, March 16: St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Senior Center with Irish music, corned beef luncheon and movie, $5 per person make a reservation by calling (928) 474-4876 at least 24 hours in advance.

Wednesday, March 21: Pine event, $5 luncheon at 11 a.m., reservation required, fiddlers at 1 p.m.

Monday Morning Bowling 10 a.m., the first and third Mondays of the month.

Democratic Women of Rim Country

The Democratic Women of Rim Country will meet at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 13 at Tiny’s Restaurant. Order lunch first and then enjoy the meeting at noon.

This month’s guest speakers will be Craig Jones, Democratic candidate for Gila County Sheriff, and Dawn Knight, president of the Arizona Federation of Democratic Women. Men and women are encouraged to attend.

Payson Masonic Lodge

Payson Masonic Lodge #70 F&AM meets every second Tuesday of the month. Dinner for members, their families and guests is at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. All members of the fraternity are invited to attend the meetings.

Payson Womans Club

The Payson Womans Club, the oldest service club in Payson, holds general membership meetings at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Payson Womans Club building, 510 W. Main St. Membership is open to local women ages 18 and up.

Bereaved parents support group

The Compassionate Friends offers hope, reassurance and a safe place to talk about our children with others who understand the pain of losing a child. Anyone who has lost a child (or grandchild) at any time, at any age is welcome to attend.

The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at 102 W. Roundup, Suite D.
