This weekend’s 20th Annual Business Showcase will also celebrate 100 years of statehood — and the 130th birthday of the cowtown that evolved into Payson.

Themed “Past, Present and Future,” the showcase will open its doors at 9 a.m. at Mazatzal Hotel & Casino. The event attracts a wide variety of businesses that embrace the opportunity to promote their expertise, answer questions, generate new customer relationships, and network with fellow business owners.

Presenting sponsor is Payson Regional Medical Center, grand patron sponsors Lowery’s Window & Door and the Payson Roundup. Contributing sponsors are PostNet and Signature Door & Window.

The showcase will include a raffle for a bronze Remington “Bronco Buster” sculpture. Buy tickets early at the chamber, or purchase them at the event. Congressman Jeff Flake, who is running now for the U.S. Senate, will pick the winning raffle ticket at about 3 p.m.

Moreover, the chamber will also present the Student Showcase to highlight student groups in Rim Country.

Interested student groups must complete the same application and participation requirements as local businesses, although the entry fee is waived.

Student groups may share booths and sell products.

Gila County Superintendent of Schools Linda O’Dell is providing prizes for Student Showcase participants, who will be judged on booth design and professionalism: $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place winners. Students can also attend a mixer sponsored by O’Dell.
