So far, HSCAZ had adopted an average of one animal per day since the first of the year. That’s pretty good, considering we’re a smaller shelter in a smaller area of Arizona. Since it’s March and we’re feeling lucky, we’re hoping to increase those adoption numbers even more with a few upcoming mobile adoption events.
The first event taking place is Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Yavapai Broadcasting is rolling out its 10th annual Petapalooza and it’s all new! The Town of Camp Verde will host this year’s event and there will be plenty to see.
Many central and northern Arizona humane shelters and organizations will bring dogs, cats and maybe even a rabbit or two for adoptions. Each year central and northern Arizona residents look forward to bringing a new pet into their homes from this event.
The 2012 Petapalooza will also feature pet-related businesses and services, dog agility and obedience demonstrations and Little Dog Races for dogs under 10” at the shoulders. We will also be hosting fly ball demonstrations and the Canine Musical Freestylers.
Area veterinarians and pet specialists will be giving presentations at the Camp Verde Gymnasium. There will be opportunities for the family dog to experience something new, too!
Learn about responsible pet ownership through children’s activities, exhibits and from the volunteers who serve area shelters. Sign the responsible pet owner promise for a free gift!
Come join HSCAZ at 75 E. Hollamon St, in Camp Verde, Ariz. and you too can participate in the 10th Annual Petapalooza — a day filled with great demonstrations, educational opportunities and family fun! Bring the kids and your family dog.
The next adoption event is Petco’s National Adoption Weekend. You guessed it — we will be at the Fountain Hills Petco, located at 16835 E. Shea Blvd., Suite 105, Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you can’t join us in Camp Verde, we hope to see you in Fountain Hills.
Adoptions are the best thing to come out of animal welfare job, I think. When you work closely with an animal and the day comes for them to find their loving, ‘fur’ever home, you realize all the hard work and dedication was worth it. Rescued pets make the best companions. Get out there and adopt today!
Meet these and other great adoptable pets at the HSCAZ shelter, 812 S. McLane Road, open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
Carla has got to be one of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet. She gets along with other dogs, likes children and even likes dogs. She is a clean girl who never makes a mess. She loves to lay in the window where she can soak up the sun.
Bones is a sweet, 2-year-old Chihuahua mix. He is very friendly and loves people, including kids. He gets along with some dogs, so a meet-and-greet should take place with him if you have any dogs and want to adopt Bones. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccines. Bones is the perfect lap dog.
Ella is an affectionate, 2-1/2-year-old beauty. She loves people! She would be best as the only animal in the household and would show you lots of love. She is spayed and current on her vaccines. Ella is litterbox trained and keeps her area nice and tidy.
Nino is a 5-month-old kitten who loves to play, play, play! He gets along with other cats and really loves to wrestle. He is friendly with people, current on vaccines and litterbox trained. Nino would love to be adopted into a home with another cat that loves to play as much as he does.
Pee Wee is another one of our playful kittens. This adorable boy can be found swatting at toys, or lounging around in a nice, comfy chair. He went through the feral program when he was a kitten, which is why he has a tipped left ear. Pee Wee is a gentle boy who will steal your heart.
Whitney is an adorable girl who loves to play ball! She gets along with some dogs, but can be pretty vocal when she plays which can sometimes be intimidating to other dogs. She loves people and is well mannered. This little girl is eager to find a loving, forever home. One, of course, where she can play ball!
