The gifting season is at hand. This year, start it by getting the gift of health for yourself and giving the gift of caring for others.
The Nov. 3 Community Health & Care Fair provides a “one-stop shop” for these all-important gifts.
The annual Health & Care Fair is from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Julia Randall Elementary gym.
The event offers an opportunity for both free and low-cost screenings and some vaccinations and a chance to learn about health care services and more available to Rim Country residents.
Free adult screenings and health education include blood pressure, dental, diabetes, dermatology, hearing, vision, ankle brachial index, heart/lung oxygen saturation, height/weight BMI, chiropractic, CPR.
Free children’s screenings include dental, heart/lung, vision, hearing, nutritional information and fingerprinting.
Blood tests of cholesterol and blood glucose are available for $10 (12-hour fast with only medications and water required).
Immunizations will be offered on a cash basis — flu $45, pneumonia $60, shingles $215. (You will receive a receipt for insurance reimbursement.)
New this year: breast self-exam education; Ask the Doctor; Ask the Pharmacist; cognitive screenings; and E Health Connection.
Participants can also sample a 30-minutes ZUMBA! workout at 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Free information is available on Gila County Health and Community Services, Curves — MHAX III, Lions Club, Hospice Compassus, PRMC Senior Circle and Healthy Woman, Senior Center Meals on Wheels and more.
Organizers won’t charge admission, but do hope people will donate eyeglasses, hearing aids and non-perishable food items.
