Dan Castleman, Jack Greenshield and Dave Rutter teed off, pitched and putted their way to first place flight finishes in a Payson Men’s Golf Association-hosted individual low net tournament at Payson Golf Course.
Castleman took A flight honors carding a 67.
In the scramble for B flight laurels, Greenshield actually tied with Bill Shedd for the crown. The two turned in identical scores of 67.
In a scorecard playoff using tallies from the back nine holes, Greenshield was first and Shedd fell to second. On the back nine, Greenshield scored a 43 and Shedd turned in a 45.
In Red flight competition, Rutter dead-knotted with Don Gyde for first place after both finished at 68.
Again a scorecard playoff on the back nine was used to break that tie. Rutter’s 43 earned him a first place finish and Gyde was second at 45.
Also in the tournament, Stan Eggen was second in A flight and Mike McKee third. Eggen scored a 69 and McKee a 70.
Jim Dalgleish tallied a 71 to finish third in B flight.
Ralph Lindo’s 70 was good enough for the bronze among the Red flight entrants.
In closest-to-the-pin competition, no winner was crowned on No. 2 because nary a PMGA member made the green on their tee shots.
Russ Morris, No. 5, 9 feet, 4 inches; Jim McGuire, No. 14. 15 feet, 1 inch; Oscar Garcia, No. 17, 13 feet, 11 inches; and Dalgleish, No. 8, 13 feet, 6 inches; were winners.
