Aglow hosts Todd Poer

Aglow International invites men and women of Rim Country to attend its quarterly meeting from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 10 in the Fellowship Hall of Crossroads Foursquare Church, 114 E Cedar, Payson.

Elks Lodge events

• Luncheon and Bingo will be held Saturday, Nov. 10 to benefit the Children’s Christmas Shopping Spree. Purchase your Bingo cards between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. A chicken salad lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Bingo begins at 1 p.m. Seating and lunch is a $10 donation — purchase your tickets at the bar. No tickets will be sold at the door or reserved.

• The 9th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Thursday, Nov. 22 at the Payson Elks Lodge. This event is open to the public, with seatings at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. Donations accepted, but not required. Volunteers are always welcome. Unity of Payson

The Rev. Judy Hildebrand’s lesson is “Consulting the Guru Inside You”. So before you spend too much time looking for a guru to teach you, take a moment to play with how to consult the wisest guru you know – your higher self. Hildebrand will speak at the 10 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 11 service at the offices of the Central Arizona Board of Realtors, 600 E. Hwy. 260, Suite 14, across the parking lot from Tiny’s Family Restaurant. Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community Room, 807 W. Longhorn Road (after turning in the main driveway, turn right at the first driveway. The Community Room is in the center of the apartment complex).

There are no fees or dues. The only membership requirement is a desire to not compulsively overeat anymore.

Optimist Club

Rim Country Optimist Club meets the second Monday of each month at the Cedar Ridge Restaurant of the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino, starting at 5:30 p.m., at which time there is often a speaker at the beginning of the meeting, followed by dinner. The board meeting follows the general meeting and dinner.

The next meeting will be Nov. 12. Alec Bales, community advocate for the displaced and disadvantaged, will be the speaker and will help plan the club’s next project: Christmas Boxes for the displaced and disadvantaged.

The Optimists extend an invitation to other organizations, businesses and individuals, who wish to attend the meeting. If you wish to attend and eat dinner with us, please call so the restaurant can be prepared to serve more people.

Photo and camera club

The Rim Country Photography and Camera Club will meet a 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12. Members will share their fall images at the meeting, so, please bring up to 10 fall images on a flash drive.

The meeting is open to all those interested in photography and there is no charge to attend.  The club meets at Rim Country Apartments, 807 W Longhorn Rd.  After entering the drive, turn right and go to the building marked 809.  The meeting is held in the activity room located in the central courtyard. Alienated Catholics Anonymous

Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

Payson Area Singles

This group has no dues. Its Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, every week at 9 a.m. to visit and plan future activities.

Friendship Bible Class

Payson Womans Club

The Payson Womans Club, the oldest service club in Payson, holds general membership meetings at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Payson Womans Club building, 510 W. Main St. Membership is open to local women ages 18 and up.

Beekeeper is guest speaker

The Bzzz About Bees

Rim Area Gardeners meet the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 401 E. Tyler Parkway. This month, Nov. 12, Dave Jones, a Sunflower apiarist will present “The Bzzz About Bees.” Dave sells his honey at the Payson Farmers Market each summer. Plan to attend. The public is welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Moose Lodge events

The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at the lodge.

Bereaved parents support group

The Compassionate Friends offers hope, reassurance and a safe place to talk about our children with others who understand the pain of losing a child. Anyone who has lost a child (or grandchild) at any time, at any age is welcome to attend.

The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at 102 W. Roundup, Suite D.

Beyond Limits Disability Ministry

Beyond Limits will meet this month at Ponderosa Bible Church, 1800 N. Beeline Highway in Payson from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13. A great evening of music and inspiration will follow a delicious free dinner. Family members, care givers and service providers are always welcome to join us.

Masonic Lodge

The Sy Harrison Masonic Lodge #70, located at 200 E. Rancho Road in Payson, meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. A dinner is held at 5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday for members, families and guests with an after-dinner program followed by the lodge’s Stated Meeting at 7 p.m.

New support group focuses on dysfunction

Do you have alcoholism or dysfunction in your family? Maybe ACA is for you. The only requirement for membership in ACA is a desire to recover from the effects of growing up in an alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional family.

Open meetings are from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Canal Senior Apartments Resident Lounge, Main Entrance, 807 S. Westerly, Payson.

Tuesday Bridge Club winners for Nov. 6 were: Diane Baran, first; Kay Hutchinson, second; Peggy Freeman, third.

Play is at 12:15 p.m. every Tuesday at Rim Country Health and Retirement Community. Area residents and guest are welcome.
