Once again this year, the members of the Payson Elks Lodge will open their doors and hearts to Rim residents and visitors for a free Community Thanksgiving Dinner.
The Lodge will serve turkey with all the trimmings and three choices of pie at on Thursday, Nov. 22 at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Elks are closing in on a decade of sharing Thanksgiving.
The dinner is free. However, organizers hope people will get tickets so they know how many dinners to prepare. Get tickets at the Elks Lodge, 1206 N. Beeline, Payson; the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce; the Payson Senior Center; and the Pine Library.
Volunteers will also deliver a Thanksgiving meal to the homebound. Make arrangements for the home-delivered meal before Monday, Nov. 19 by calling the Elks at (928) 474-2572 or Joy Richards at (928) 978-2373.
The members of the Elks Lodge welcome volunteers to help with the day’s events. Organizer Bob Troutman said they will be setting up starting at 10 a.m. and breaking down around 2:30 p.m. Volunteers may come in at any time to help and may eat the dinner at any time. Monetary donations are also welcome, Troutman said, but food contributions cannot be accepted.
The Lodge has booster seats and highchairs to accommodate young children at the meal. And once again, DJ Craig will be providing entertainment throughout the day.
