Thanks For Peace Pole

Thank you to Marcena Brook for initiating the planting of a Peace Pole in front of Payson United Methodist Church, 414 N. Easy St., Payson.

The Peace Pole acts as a beacon for spirit and reminds us of the possibility of peace. The planting of Peace Poles was started in Japan as a grassroots community project in 1975 and has grown into an international peace movement. It is estimated that there are more than 200,000 Peace Poles that have been dedicated in almost every country in the world.

Printed on each side of the Peace Pole are the words “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in English, Japanese, Spanish and Apache.

Thank you again to Marcena and also to Irv Bossert for crafting Payson’s first Peace Pole. I hope to see many more around our city.
