Payson Area Alcoholics Anonymous meetings
Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held Monday through Sunday at 8 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. (Rule 62) at 434 S. Beeline Highway Suite A, Payson; Tuesday and Thursday, 7 p.m. (Back to Basics) at St Philips Church, 511 St. Philips Street (Knights of Columbus room, side building); Monday and Tuesday, 6 p.m. at Men’s Step House, 107 E. Airline Blvd., Payson; and Sunday and Monday, 7 p.m. (Living Sober), 408 W. Main St., Suite 11 (rear entrance).
An Alcoholics Anonymous UNITY meeting takes place at 6 a.m. every Monday and at 7 p.m. every second Saturday at 600 E. Hwy. 260 #14. There is handicap access.

Payson Art League
Pat Sessions will be the guest speaker at the Tuesday, Oct. 16 meeting of the Payson Art League at Rim Country Health & Retirement Community, 807 W. Longhorn Road, Payson. From 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. socialize, enjoy refreshments and Show and Share time, the program will follow. The public is welcome.
Sessions is education coordinator for the Payson Art League and works with art in the local schools. Her presentation will be based on a classroom lesson integrating literature and art. With this activity, other artists will be able to learn about how they could easily adapt this lesson plan to offer an art lesson in their medium to local students.
The Sy Harrison Masonic Lodge #70, located at 200 E. Rancho Road in Payson, meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group
The Desert Southwest Chapter cordially invites caregivers, families, service providers and members of the community to attend the Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group meeting at Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main St., from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
The key is to walk away with skills to support caregivers of a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

This group has no dues or age restrictions. On the calendar:
• Wednesday, Oct. 17 - carpool to Pine for lunch at The Early Bird Café at 11:30 a.m., then attend the Fiddler’s Jam Session at 1 p.m. in the Community Center Cultural Hall.

Senior Circle news
The Senior Circle will host a member lunch at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17. Lunch includes bingo and a 50/50 drawing.
A Lunch and Learn program on Medicare Enrollment is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 24.
Tom Russell will explain the ins and outs of Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage and Part D Rx. Participants will learn key questions to ask in order to better understand the fine print, save money and choose the best plan for you. There are two educational (no sales) sessions scheduled, the first is at 10:30 a.m. and the second is at 2 p.m. Snacks will be served at both.
October is open enrollment for Tonto Apache Gym memberships. Senior Circle members can save half off the price of membership.
The Senior Circle is now taking reservations for a Dec. 5 trip to Barleens Arizona Opry. The cost includes round-trip transportation from Payson, show tickets, lunch and all gratuities and taxes.
Rim County Garrett Retirees will meet Thursday, Oct. 18 at Tiny’s, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson. Social hour begins at 11 a.m., with lunch served from the menu at noon. Honeywell retirees are welcome and also friends. For further information, please call Merie (928) 474-6011.
Lost Loves, a support group for adults who have lost a loved one through suicide, meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, Payson. Adults suffering from such a loss are welcome to attend the group sessions which are free of charge. The group will be facilitated by a professional counselor and a survivor of suicide loss.

Sons of the American Revolution
Rim Country Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will meet at 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson.
Tim Ehrhardt, a local historian, will present a program on interesting aspects of Payson history.
The SAR organization is the leading male lineage society that perpetuates the ideals of the War for Independence. Individuals with an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-83 are invited to join and learn more about this worthwhile organization.

The Payson Lioness Club meets at 9 a.m. the third Saturday of the month at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260. Sponsored by the Payson Lion’s Club, the Payson Lioness Club is part of the world’s largest service organization. Members enjoy activities, service projects and events that benefit local charities. First Assembly evangelistic services
The community is invited to attend special services at Payson First Assembly of God, 1100 W. Lake Drive, for three nights Sunday, Oct. 21 through Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. each night. Evangelist and Youth Pastor Jacob Jester from Independence, Mo. will be the guest speaker. Childcare for children 3 and under will be available.
The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) will meet at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino in the small private dining room. The guest speaker will be Tommie Cline Martin, Gila County Supervisor for District 1, who will talk about current projects and future priorities.
