Early ballots sent to voters who live in the Mesa del Caballo area did not include the governing board election for the Northern Gila County Sanitary District.
So Gila County’s Department of Elections has mailed out separate paper ballots containing only the sanitary district’s election to those affected voters.
Ballots issued at the polling place will include the Northern Gila County Sanitary District.
Elections director Linda Eastlick said a computer glitch is to blame for the mix up.
This is the first year the sanitary district election has appeared on the primary ballot in several years and the error was not caught. Previously, the district held its own election at its office off Doll Baby Ranch Road.
Last week, when the elections office sent out early ballots, more than 200 Mesa del packets did not contain the sanitary district board race.
Officials learned of the error Monday from the sanitary district.
Mesa del voters impacted should receive the additional ballot soon.
Eastlick said the cost of the error is minimal to the county.
