September was full of fun for the Payson Women’s Golf Association. On Sept. 4, the game of the day was “Two Best Balls of the Foursome.” Taking first was the team of Shari Cody, Judy Mackenzie and Alesha Calderwood. The team of Claudia Bullard, Judy McFall, Jan Burns and Isabella Sockrider came in second. Closest-to-the-Pins went to Donna Smid and Claudia Bullard.
The game of the day on Sept. 11 was “Pink Ball.” The team of Shari Cody, Marcy Hewlett, Mary Cain and Kay Davis came in first, followed by the team of Karen Peterson, Jan Burns, Mary Jones and Alesha Calderwood in second. Karen Peterson won both Closest-to-the-Pins that day.
On Sept. 18, the PWGA hosted the Payson Niners in an “All Par 3’s” game on the front nine. Winning the A Flight for the PWGA was Mary Jones, followed by Marcy Hewlett in second. Winning the A Flight for the Niners was Linda Teasley, with Ann Adams taking second. B Flight honors for the PWGA went to Kay Davis, with Jeannie Griffin coming in second. And B Flight honors for the Niners went to Donna Larson, with Valerie Smith taking second. Closest-to-the-Pins went to Carolyn Davis and Marcy Hewlett.
Sept. 25 was a Stapleford Format (4 points for a net eagle, 2 for a net birdie, 1 for a net par, -1 for a bogey and -2 for a double bogey or worse). In the A Flight, there was a tie for first between Shari Cody and Lois Judd, with Karen Peterson taking second. In the B Flight, Jan Burns was first and Joyce Goff was second. Winning the C Flight was Alesha Calderwood, with Jeannie Griffin coming in second. Winning the Closest-to-the-Pins was Judy Mackenzie and Karen Peterson.
There were lots of birdies scored in September. Claudia Bullard, Claudia Thompson, Judy Mackenzie, Lois Judd and Jeri Shepard each had one birdie. Shari Cody had 3 and Karen Peterson had 4. Chip-ins were scored by Jan Burns, Mary Cain, Claudia Thompson and Marilyn Schall. Congrats to Karen Peterson who had an eagle on #15.
