The Payson Longhorns and the Camp Verde Cowboys locked horns early and tortured each other all night long with their back and forth battle, trying to outscore the other and close the game.

Such was not to be.

The game ended in a tie, resulting in two ten minute halves of play. Neither team managed to score and settle the contest.

The battle continued.

After some discussion between the officals it was determined that a 5 shot penalty goal would determine the winner.

It didn't happen.

After Longhorn Steven Tubbs missed blocking the Cowboys first two shots, it looked like the end for the Longhorns was near.

But these Longhorns never gave up.

The Cowboys next shot was blocked by Tubbs and the Longhorns were back in the shoot-out.

Things were looking up.

After the next block by Tubbs the score was tied and the crowd went crazy.

In the end the Longhorn Goalie Steven Tubbs showed his mettle and blocked the next four shots and the Longhorn shooters kicked the ball passed the Cowboy goalie for the tense and victorious end.

The Longhorns game was on!
