Teacher Layoff: An Old Teaching Fable ...

The article in Tuesday’s Roundup reminds me of an old teaching fable ...

Years ago when the pioneers came to this area, the new parents had their kids and no school and no teacher.

So they built a small school house, much like the Strawberry School house and hired a teacher.

Soon more kids arrived so they needed a bigger school, hired a principal, secretaries, custodians and more supervisors.

Soon the cost of education became so expensive ... they fired the teacher.
