After a successful kickoff event last summer, Fire on the Rim organizers have expanded the mountain bike race from one day to three.
The Second Annual Fire on the Rim kicks off Sept. 14 and runs through the 16th.
The event includes vendors, races, music, a spaghetti dinner and a beer garden sponsored by New Belgium Brewing.
All proceeds from the race go toward the Pine-Strawberry Fuels Reduction committee, which work to clear and maintain fire break lines around the community.
Last year, the event attracted 88 riders and brought in $35,000. This year, at least 120 riders are expected.
Entrants can choose from three race lengths — 15, 30 and 45 miles. The race begins Saturday, Sept. 15, starting at 7:30 a.m. for the 45-mile race, 7:45 a.m. for the 30-mile, and 8 a.m. for the 15-miler.
Hike, Bike & Run has donated a KHS Winslow mountain bike to be raffled. Tickets for the raffle are $5 each.
