Big Brothers Big Sisters Postpones Fund-Raiser

The Payson office of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona will skip its fall fund-raiser to concentrate on its March 2, 2013 Bowl for Kids’ Sake, the agency’s major communitywide fund-raiser. The event draws bowling teams from service organizations, local businesses, school district administrators, teachers and students in order to create a unique team-building event which also serves as a platform for fund-raising and sharing the agency’s mission and vision with the community.

“In past years it has been held in August or September,” said Robert Henley, executive director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona’s Payson office. “We wanted to move the event to the late winter time-frame so our school-based matches have time to bond and do some fund-raising before the event. Many of our school-based matches aren’t complete until late October or early November.”

The event will be held at Rim Country Lanes in Payson and financial sponsorships are available ranging from $150 for a one lane sponsorship to $2,000 for the Magic Maker level. Both individuals and businesses are encouraged to participate. Each bowler is required to raise a minimum of $35 in order to be eligible to bowl two games and receive a commemorative T-shirt. Prizes will be offered to the top fund-raisers. Henley said it costs approximately $1,000 to support a Big and Little, mentor match, for one year and all money raised in at the Bowl for Kids’ Sake directly supports programs at the Payson office and the local community.
