Shelby School students earned a grand total of 29 awards at the Northern Gila County Fair, including 15 blue ribbons.
Shepard Shill, of Tonto Village, won Judge’s Favorite for his 3-foot-tall wood and cardboard painted sculpture.
Kody Figaniak, of Gisela, took the Best of Show for his striking abstract acrylic painting.
Shepard is in seventh grade, and Kody is in fifth.
The fine arts charter school in Tonto Village also has a nationally ranked chess team.
