After a failed attempt to avoid capture, a Payson man was arrested Sunday afternoon on a slew of charges including domestic violence and felony flight.

Officers caught up with Michael Robert Basner of Payson, 43, in the Round Valley subdivision south of town.

About 1:40 p.m., an off-duty police officer observed Basner in a suspected domestic violence situation off Hogan Drive. When additional officers responded, Basner reportedly sped to the Round Valley area.

Gila County Sheriff’s deputies picked up pursuit of the suspect when he left town limits.

When they caught up to him, officers arrested Basner on charges of intimidation/stalking, domestic violence, DUI, felony flight, reckless driving and two outstanding warrants.

Basner pled guilty to driving without a valid license in late 2009, according to court records.
