Republican Party Does Not Reflect Face Of America

Editor:

I was a Republican during the early years following in my father’s footsteps. In those days Republicans were more inclusive. I voted for George Romney for governor, because he worked hard, had talent and was able to relate to the average voter. If he made a mistake he admitted it and apologized.

Mitt Romney is half the man his father was. Romney and his running mate have told so many lies that I have lost count. This has surpassed anything I have ever observed before.

I have been a faithful political convention follower for years. When I looked at the sea of faces during the Republican Convention I saw mostly white faces. It did not reflect the face of greater America.

I then watched the Democratic Convention where I saw a representation of what America looks like today. Everyone was included from white faces to black faces plus.

I understood why I was comfortable there. I was open to change before viewing these two conventions, as I do not always vote one party. But after watching these conventions, and observing both candidates on the stump, I can find no evidence that what Romney represents is good for everyone. It sounds great for the top 1 percent, but very few of us belong there.

There is no way that my caring physician father would be able to vote for this new Republican Party.

I want someone who had to work to achieve. I want the next president to reach out to those who have realized the American Dream, as well as those who aspire to be there. I want our president to park his wealth in this country, and not in some off shore accounts to avoid paying the taxes the rest of us have to pay. I want a leader who uses wisdom to make his foreign policy decisions, not a president who shoots off his mouth to garner political points while putting our overseas citizens in danger.

As I consider all these things that I want in a president, I realize we already have that. His name is Barack Obama. He is the only candidate that will continue the policies that are slowly pulling us out of this inherited devastation. Vote for Barack Obama for your own sake and for the sake of the United States of America.

Independents are like chaff blowing in the wind. You have said “I want someone who had to work to achieve. I want the next president to reach out to those who have realized the American Dream, as well as those who aspire to be there.” And, somehow you attribute that to Hussein?

Notice in your heart felt desires, there is no expression of protection of the constitution, of the bill of rights, of freedom, nor Arizona’s sovereignty. The Fed gov’t is your answer to everything, and Hussein the expression of your dreams.

He is the most secretive President ever. He claimed to make his administration the most “visible” ever. Yet, everything is hidden. He attacks the underpinnings of the middle class while singing a song to impress them. He’s the only President to have aliases.

As for off shore investments? He has effectively eliminated thousands of offshore oilfield jobs, while he takes your tax money (And mine) and gives it to Brazil for their own oil development.

Did he ever “work to achieve”? He was a punk strung out on dope until he got to college, as he admits in his book. And, his college records and years are a missing page, sequestered from view. Haven’t you seen his stoned face in that picture with a joint hanging from his mouth, and a banana style hat on his head? He’d pass for any pimp on the street at that time.

Can you name any job he held, other than as a lawyer? How did he make that $5MM? Not on a lowly lawyer’s salary. But, those records are hidden, and we can’t touch them. Yet, you’re worried about Romney, and where he puts money he earned? Have you ever invested in a mutual fund? If so, you have ‘hidden’ funds overseas, from time to time. This is a global market. I’ve had CD’s in a British bank, myself. So what? You have said “I want a leader who uses wisdom to make his foreign policy decisions, not a president who shoots off his mouth to garner political points while putting our overseas citizens in danger.” Didn’t Hussein shoot his mouth off about the Benghazi raid being a result of a video instead of the 9/11 reprisal it was proven to be? Didn’t he fail to put marines with loaded weapons on those grounds? Did he not disclose, then abandon, that doctor in Pakistan? The one that helped us get Bin Laden? And, did you not hear him claim that he killed Bin Laden when it was the seals, based on the groundwork Bush laid down, and the seals had to prompt him time and again to let them get the guy before the OK was reluctantly given? As far as “uses wisdom to make his foreign policy decisions” the man has almost singlehandedly brought about the ‘Arab Spring’ that is unifying the muslim world into a frothing sea of militants who stand in the streets from Morocco to India, and from Bangladesh to Indonesia, chanting death to America. What wisdom can you point to in any foreign decision he’s made? World leaders scoff at us.

Mr. Rollins; You are welcome to entertain beliefs as you wish. However, I sincerely wonder if your letter was drafted by a Democrat surrogate. It reads like a campaign document. Now, if you wish to talk about lying I suggest that you look at the promises that Obama made before he was elected and check how many were fulfilled. Notice the many questions now being asked of the White House regarding Fast and Furious, statements about Libyan deaths, and other matters that concern coverups (lying). You malign Romney in regard to economics. I will ask you this question: Did Romney break laws in regard to his income taxes or did Romney abide by the laws of the land? In regard to a rich person representing the average American: do you realize the number of past Presidents that were "rich" and worked tirelessly for Americans? Do you discount Kennedy? Washington? I have to wonder if you have accepted the social/economic divisionism being put out by Democrats. I must and will disagree with most of your letter and finish by stating that in my opinion Obama is the worst leader that I have seen. I believe that America needs people of moral principle in government and I do not believe that describes Obama et. al.
