Dude up and head out to the 18th Annual Kiwanis Auction for Youth.

The Saturday, April 6, Wild Wild West-themed event at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino Banquet Hall will start at 5 p.m. for happy hour and music, with dinner at 6:30 p.m. The event supports Kiwanis youth programs in area schools and its scholarship fund, but folks will also have a great time and a chance to take home some terrific prizes.

The evening will feature live and silent auctions, plus a card draw — buy a card for $20, tear it in half and drop one half in a bucket, if that half is drawn, you win the prize: a home-protection, 12-gauge shotgun.

“It (the card draw) is something we have been doing for years and it’s a lot of fun,” said Bobby Davis of the Kiwanis.

Among the live auction items: autographed memorabilia from the Diamondbacks, Suns and Cardinals; tickets to baseline seats at a Diamondbacks game; four-person passes plus a cart from Chaparral Pines, The Rim Club and Payson Golf Course; Oakley sunglasses; a guided fishing or hunting trip for two; a week’s vacation at a condominium in Branson, Mo.; jewelry from both Payson Jewelers and Overman Designs; a handgun; and a mystery gift.

The silent auction items include original works of art from local artists, a variety of services from area dentists, gift certificates to local restaurants and more.

There is still time to make a contribution to any or all of the auctions, Davis said.

The $60 individual ticket buys a meal of oven-roasted, herb-rubbed prime rib with au jus and brown gravy, or breast of chicken in a mushroom wine sauce. A table for eight is $450. The deadline to get tickets is noon, Saturday, April 6.

DJ Craig will provide the music for the evening, which will include dancing after dinner.

Presented by the Kiwanis Club of Zane Grey Country Charitable Foundation, the event proceeds will be used for Payson youth activities and scholarships, including support for the Terrific Kids program in area elementary schools, the Builders Club at Rim Country Middle School and the Key Club at Payson High School.

Call Davis at (928) 978-4323 for more information about donating or purchasing tickets.
