Payson’s original car wash is once again open, this time with a new owner and a few marked improvements.
Gone are the days of schlepping a pocket full of quarters or tokens to the car wash with Bubbles on Bonita now accepting credit cards at all six of its self-serve bays and vending machines.
New owner Curtis Tremblay spent four months renovating and improving the car wash, which had sat neglected for several years after a host of owners, before opening in January.
Tremblay, who owns another car wash in the Valley, said he saw a unique opportunity with Bubbles on Bonita.
The car wash is located off the main drag, tucked just off West Bonita Street, which is perfect for locals who don’t want to battle Valley traffic on the weekends, he said. And the facility can accommodate RVs.
The facility was in rough shape when Tremblay took it over. Besides needing a thorough cleaning, Tremblay had to replace the pumps and put in all new brushes and hoses.
“Everything is brand new,” he said.
Tremblay brought in new cleaning products, including those for tire cleaning, a foam conditioner and a spot-free rinse.
His best investment? Hiring Ben, an 80-year-old local resident who loyally checks the facility at least once a day.
“He takes a lot of pride in his work,” he said.
Tremblay is even teaching Ben how to monitor the car wash from home using a state-of-the-art surveillance system he had installed.
Bubbles on Bonita, at 114 W. Bonita St., is open 24/7.
