National Nurses Week

On May 6, 2013 the American Nurses Association and health care organizations around the country will celebrate National Nurses Week, which is held every year during May 6 through May 12, ending on Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

National Nurses Week is celebrated to recognize the hard work and achievements of registered professional nurses, raise public awareness of the value of nursing, and educate the public about the vital roles registered nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people.

To celebrate National Nurses Week, we would like to recognize the nearly 3.1 million registered nurses in the United States who provide highly skilled, safe and quality care, while encountering increasing challenges to their professional and ethical commitment to deliver essential health care.

Please join us in this celebration by recognizing the nurses who have made a difference in your life. These nurses are our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and friends.

Thank the registered nurse who cared for you or a family member, saved the life of a friend, or held the hand of a dying loved one.

Please help us recognize our area’s registered nurses by paying tribute to a particular nurse or to all indispensable nurses on this special day.
