The Northern Gila County Genealogical Society will hold its annual yard sale Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 at the Genealogy Library, 302 E. Bonita, Payson. The library is a non-profit and non-denominational genealogy library. All proceeds from the yard sale will go to operating funds for the facility.

Payson Elks

Elks members and guests are welcome to enjoy lunch at the Lodge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; Friday dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday dinner from noon to 5 p.m.

Every Friday there is Karaoke from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Every Sunday there is Bingo at 1 p.m. and a Pool Tournament at 4:30 p.m. with Happy Hour from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Elks members and guests are welcome at all these events.

Elks celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Elks and their guests are invited to a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the lodge at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 4.

Dinner is $8 and features two cheese enchiladas, a taco, beans, rice, chips and salsa. At the bar there will be tequila and Corona beer specials for $1.50. Mexican music will be offered as well.

Masonic Lodge

The Sy Harrison Masonic Lodge #70, located at 200 E. Rancho Road in Payson, meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. A dinner is held at 5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday for members, families and guests with an after-dinner program followed by the lodge’s Stated Meeting at 7 p.m.

Payson Walkers

The Payson Walkers meet at 8 a.m. daily for an hour’s walk on pavement around the community.

The upcoming May walks: Wednesday, May 1, meet at Walgreens, on the Del Taco side; Thursday, May 2, meet at the Elks Lodge on Airport Road; Friday, May 3, meet at the Senior Circle; Saturday, May 4, meet at the west end of Longhorn; Sunday, May 5, meet at the Senior Circle.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

The Payson Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group invites caregivers, families, service providers and members of the community to attend the support group meeting at Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Canasta Saving Graces Card Group invitation

We are looking for a few more ladies who enjoy laughter, fun and new friendships. This Red Hat meets at 10 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the Crosswinds Restaurant.

There is a break for lunch around noon and play resumes after lunch. You do not need to know how to play. Our members will be happy to teach you. All are welcome!

PAWS meets

PAWS (Payson Area Woofers Society) meet at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 1 in the meeting room of the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road. The guest speaker is Ian Leonard from PetSmart, who will discuss what the store does for Payson and what they offer to PAWS. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.

Rim Country Classic Auto Club

The Rim Country Classic Auto Club (RCCAC) holds its monthly meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260 in Payson. For information, call Steve Fowler at (928) 478-6676.

Genealogical society

The Northern Gila County Genealogical Society meets at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 2 at the Genealogy Library, 302 E. Bonita St., Payson.

Immediately following the business portion the speaker will be Emily Linkey, new director of the Payson Public Library. Linkey will be speaking on changes in the library policies regarding genealogical research. The public is welcome to attend the meeting and use the society’s library in researching their family roots.

Lost Loves

Lost Loves, a support group for adults who have lost a loved one through suicide, meets on the first Thursday of each month at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, Payson. Adults suffering from such a loss are welcome to attend the group sessions which are free of charge. The group is facilitated by a professional counselor an da survivor of suicide loss.

Mountain Village Foundation

Mountain Village Foundation, formerly Strawberry’s Elite, will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 2 at the StrawBEARy Bear. All are invited to attend.

Members will be discussing the by-laws and a new Christmas project. A full dinner menu is available.

High Country Garden Club

The High Country Garden Club meets at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 2 in the community hall of the First Southern Baptist Church located at the corner of South Colcord and West Bonita Streets

The program will be a “hands-on” craft project presented by Brenda Hamric of the Paper and Metal Scrappers store in Payson. Those attending will be making mini-garden scrapbooks for storing garden tips, pictures, and other related information. All those interested in gardening and plants are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served after the presentation.

Men’s fellowship breakfast

The Men’s Ministry of Ponderosa Bible Church host a breakfast at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 4 at the church.

All men of the community are invited to come for a time of fellowship and good food. The menu consists of orange juice, French toast, link sausage, fruit bowl, coffee — all for only $1.

Gale Dawson will be the featured speaker. Dawson is a graduate of Northeast Baptist School of Theology and ministered for 22 years in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Zaire, and at one time known as the Belgium Congo. Currently Dawson serves as chaplain of the Payson Christian Clinic.

American Legion Riders

The American Legion Riders May meeting is at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 4 at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson.

Breakfast is at 9:15 a.m., with a business meeting to follow. This is the final meeting before the American Legion Riders Charity Fun Run, which will be May 11. All proceeds from this event will benefit the group’s sole charity, Payson Supply Line.

Native American Flute Circle meeting

The Native American flute is one of the easiest instruments to learn to play and produces some of the most beautiful music. Bring your flute, or just come and listen. Native drummers also welcome. The free event is at 2 p.m., Saturday May 4 at Tom Russell’s office behind Fargo’s Steakhouse, Suite D-3.

Rim Country Celts, a social club, will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 9 at the home of Su Connell and Stan Garner. There will be a potluck dinner followed by the business meeting.
