Moose Lodge events

The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month.

The lodge has a Thursday Fish Fry from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekly dinner specials are available.

International Police Association

The International Police Association (I.P.A. Region 61 Northern AZ) meets for breakfast at Mazatzal Casino Restaurant at 9 a.m. every Wednesday. All honorably retired law enforcement and active law enforcement personnel are welcome.

Advent Services

Mount Cross

Midweek Advent services are offered in the afternoon at 1:30 p.m. and in the evening at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11 and 18. A light supper is offered at 5 p.m.

Mount Cross is located at 601 E. Highway 260, just east of Safeway.

Rock of Ages

The Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, at the corner of Airport and McLane, has Advent services at 7 p.m. Wednesday. A free soup supper is held at 6 p.m. in advance of the service.

Shepherd of the Pines

Midweek Advent Services will be held at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane, Payson.

Services are at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11 and 18. A potluck soup supper precedes the service at 5 p.m.

Rim Country residents and visitors are invited to join the congregation for these traditional services.

Payson Walkers

The Payson Walkers take an hour walk on pavement every day. The walks start at 9 a.m. The schedule of sites is as follows: Sunday, Payson Public Library; Monday, Payson Elks Lodge; Tuesday, Parks & Rec office; Wednesday, Walgreens; Thursday, Payson Public Library; Friday, Home Depot; Saturday, west end of Longhorn Road.

Payson Area Singles     

The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch, a group of single men and women, meet at 9 a.m. every week at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, to visit and plan future activities. Upcoming events include:

Tuesday and Thursday members attend a Silver Sneakers exercise program together at Club USA at the Sawmill Crossing center.

The Christmas party will be at Tiny’s Restaurant at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12. The group will be having dinner, a visit from Santa, gifts and more.

Rim Country Celts

Rim Country Celts will hold a short business meeting Thursday, Dec. 12. There will be a planning session for the holiday celebration of Hogmanny, which will be held Saturday, Dec. 28 at Tiny’s.

Payson Flying Club

The Payson Flying Club will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16 at Tiny’s. The airport’s new fueling procedure is on the meeting agenda. Call Bob Giarraputo for more details, (928) 474-9482.

Daughters of the American Revolution

The December meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, in the conference room of the Payson Public Library. The guest speaker will be Neil Morrison, who will talk about Christmas Traditions and Customs Around the World. A potluck will follow.

The DAR focuses on preserving American history and securing America’s future through education and patriotism. Women age 18 and older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution are eligible for membership. The Living Nativity 

Arson, animal cruelty, domestic disturbance, assault, disturbing the peace... how can any of these terms be associated with a beautiful “living” Nativity presentation? Come to Payson First Assembly of God, 1100 W. Lake Dr. (the Church at Green Valley Park) at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15 to find out as the Lightning & Laughter Drama Team presents a humorous skit about when one night went haywire. Refreshments will follow the service.  

Democratic dinner

The Democratic clubs of Payson and the Rim Country are having a no-host Holiday Dinner at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18 at La Sierra Restaurant, at the corner of Forest and Beeline. All Democrats are encouraged to attend.
