They love music and make it beautifully.
The Payson Choral Society has been working since August on its annual Christmas concert which they will perform Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Payson High School Auditorium.
Once again Daria Mason is directing the program, which features accompaniment by Victoria Harris.
Solo performers this year will be Marianne Thoen, “All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth,” and Rio Chavez, “The Christmas Box.” Shelley Wayland and Stephen Loyd will sing a duet, “The Prayer.” Ensembles featuring the men of the Payson Choral Society will present “Silver Bells,” while the women of the group will do “Stars I Shall Find.”
A sing-along for the audience includes “Joy to the World,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Silent Night.”
Some of the well known tunes on the program include “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “Sleigh Bells,” “Let it Snow,” “What Child is This” and “White Christmas.”
Filling out the evening will be lesser known works including “Come on, It’s Christmas,” “Blizzard,” “The Christmas Star,” “Christmas Glory Hallelujah,” “The People Who Walked in Darkness,” “Grown-Up Christmas List,” “Santa Claus Boogie” and “Sing Noel.”
Performances are at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and cost $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Buy tickets from the Choral Society, Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce or Payson Public Library.
Proceeds will fund the society’s music scholarships for students at both Payson High School and Rim Country Middle School, to be awarded at the Spring Concert. The group will hold auditions for that concert on Dec. 16 at the Payson United Methodist Church on Easy Street at 5:30 p.m. For information, call John Landino at (928) 468-0023.
