Payson Area Food Drive Continues

Editor:

Thank you Rim Country — the Payson Area Food Drive has a goal of raising $40,000 cash and 25,000 pounds of food to feed people in need over the coming year.

The food provided by excess contributions of goods to the Valley food banks has dried up. The cut in food stamps has also added to the need for help from our local food banks. Thanks to a challenge grant of $10,000 from District 1 Gila County Supervisor Tommie Martin, we have raised $20,000. This grant was matched by donations from local organizations and Rim Country residents. More than $1,250 came from members of the two Rotary Clubs. The rest of the $10,000 matches came from Rim Country residents and organizations.

We have received a second $10,000 challenge grant from a local citizen. We have received more than $1,000 so far to meet that challenge.

Thank you again.
