Thrift shop closed, meals still served
The mid-January cold snap caused severe enough damage at the Pine Strawberry Thrift Shop that it is temporarily closed. The community dining hall is still open Monday through Friday.
The employees arrived on Jan. 16 to find water damage due to a broken water pipe. Repairs are being made and there are plans afoot to have a reopening party in March.
The thrift store is still taking donations, but staff asks that donations be put inside the gate by the outside bathrooms.
The staff and volunteers thank everyone for their concerns and well wishes.
Quilt Angels Quilt-A-Thon
The Quilt Angels Quilt-A-Thon is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 13 through Friday, March 15 at First Baptist Church, Pine on Highway 87. Everyone is invited and quilting experience is not needed.
The Quilt-A-Thon includes a catered main meal for all volunteers, as well as potluck with desserts, salads, etc.
This Quilt Angels’ project will help Time Out Thrift Shop; group homes; homeless Mothers and Children’s Home; the Senior Center; and Meals on Wheels.
