Snowstorm Brings Activities To A Screeching Halt

Tonto Village is pretty much hunkered down from the snowstorm, and activities have come to a screeching halt. Make sure that you have enough firewood, matches, lanterns, flashlights, food, etc. Who knows how long it will be before the roads are passable.

One note, according to the ordinance that states to keep your vehicle out of the street or the street will not be plowed. This is very important on the side streets in the Village. They are narrow to start with, so please move your vehicles out of the street before the next snowstorm.

Fire on Standage

Last Wednesday, the Hellsgate firefighters were called out from station #22 in the Village to Standage Drive, at Virginia Rankhorn’s home. Unfortunately there was a chimney fire in progress. The firefighters moved everyone to safety, including Ginny’s doggies. The firefighters were on scene for a number of hours to make sure they extinguished all the hot spots. Ginny’s neighbors were very helpful in taking care of the doggies and bringing her to her neighbor’s home while the firefighters were working on getting the fire out.

Hellsgate Fire Department

At the next Hellsgate Fire Board meeting on March 13, the board will recognize Angie Lecher for 14 years of service. Angie started with Hellsgate on March 1, 1998. John Jackson of station #21 and Len Trujillo of station #23 in Mead Ranch will be recognized for three years of service. John and Len both started in 2009. Congratulations to all of you and thank you for your service to the fire department.

It was with sincere regret that the fire department accepted the resignation of  firefighter Trey Shill. The department wishes to thank you for the service that you provided to the department while you were on board. Good luck to you for wherever your path may lead you.

Birthdays, etc.

Gail Mortenson of Tonto Village III celebrates her big day on Feb. 22. Brenda Slapnicka of Tonto Creek Road will add another candle on Feb. 23. Happy birthday to the both of you. Pleasant thoughts are sent your way with a heartfelt wish for a happy day.

On a personal note, our daughter, Eileen, and Jon Porter will commemorate their anniversary on Feb. 22. That same day, our daughter, Vicki, and Bill Nelson will also celebrate another year as man and wife. Congratulations and may you continue to grow together in life and love.
