Rim Country Celts

The Rim Country Celts January meeting is at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12 at Alice Natales’ home.

Members are having a potluck meal and will be provide the turkey and ham, potato salad, a green tossed salad and a fresh cranberry salad. Everyone else is asked to provide a large dish to share.

Unity of Payson

Members of Unity of Payson will host the Rev. Aliza Bloom talking about her first published book, “Be A BOA – Not A Constrictor” at 10 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 13. The book is a whimsical fable about releasing limitations and discovering your BOA - Bold, Outrageous, Authentic - self.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community Room, 807 W. Longhorn Road (after turning in the main driveway, turn right at the first driveway. The Community Room is in the center of the apartment complex). Another meeting is held at 11 a.m. Wednesdays at Mountain High Coffee Works in the Swiss Village.

There are no fees or dues. The only membership requirement is a desire to not compulsively overeat anymore.

Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

Photographers to meet

The Rim Country Photography/ Camera Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14 with a photo presentation by Nick Berezenko.

A longtime resident of the Rim Country, Berezenko is a frequent contributor to Arizona Highways magazine and its other publications.

The meeting is open to all those interested in photography. The club meets at Rim Country Apartments, 807 W. Longhorn Road. After entering the drive, turn right and go to the building marked 809. Rim Country Optimists

Rim Country Optimist Club meets the second Monday of each month at the Cedar Ridge Restaurant at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino starting at 5:30 p.m.

The next meeting will be Monday, Jan. 14 and the speaker will be Camille Levee, executive director of Time Out Inc., a domestic violence emergency and transitional shelter in Payson.

Rim Area Gardeners

Rim Area Gardeners meet at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month at the Church of Christ, 401 E. Tyler Parkway. This month’s meeting is Jan. 14 and will have a program from Roger Kreimeyer of Payson Community Garden.

The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

Payson Area Singles

This group has no dues. Its Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, every week at 9 a.m. to visit and plan future activities.

Payson Art League to meet Jan. 15

Payson Art League will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Rim Country Health and Retirement Community. The social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by a short, business meeting.

After the business meeting, Rock and Cody Newcomb will conduct an informative question and answer presentation to examine the “What, Why, When, How, Who and Where” aspects of the ink jet method of creating “giclee” (zhee’klay) prints. This presentation will be of considerable interest to anyone who has entertained the idea of reproducing images for the art market, but has been reluctant to do so. The public is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

A Course in Miracles Study Group

A Course in Miracles Study Group meets from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursdays. Participation is by donation.

Coming up at the Payson Regional Medical Center’s Senior Circle:

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

The Desert Southwest Chapter cordially invites caregivers, families, service providers and members of the community to attend the Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group meeting at Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main St., from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

The key is to walk away with skills to support caregivers of a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Democratic Club to meet Jan. 16
