The volunteers with the area Red Cross have a new tool with which to serve residents and visitors. The group is getting a Red Cross van Wednesday, Jan. 23.

The public is welcome to attend the presentation of the van to Rim Country Red Cross volunteers at the Payson Public Library, said Kathleen Kelly, a Rim Country Red Cross volunteer.

Trudy Thompson Rice, regional communications officer for the American Red Cross, will attend the presentation where volunteers will pass out brochures and first aid kits.

The Red Cross alleviates suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and donors, Kelly said. “We are always there in times of need. Here in Rim Country we have responded to house fires and disasters such as wildfires, and people stranded due to floods and snowstorms. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that all people affected by disaster receive care and shelter,” she added.
