Hello again, fellow Creekers.
The Hashknife Pony Express will be in Christopher Creek again this year for their 55th annual ride.
The Navajo County Sheriff’s Posse leads the 200-mile ride from Holbrook to Scottsdale, delivering 20,000 first class letters by horseback.
The commemorative ride starts in Holbrook at noon, Tuesday, Jan. 29 at the Old Courthouse. Around 6 p.m. the riders will be at the Elks Club in Holbrook for a dinner sponsored by the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are available at the Holbrook chamber for $14. Call Emily at (928) 524-6558 for more information. The riders will then depart from the Holbrook Post Office at 8 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30 to begin the relay mail run.
The riders will stop in Christopher Creek Wednesday, Jan. 30 before heading to the Payson Post Office where they will arrive around 4:45 p.m. to pick up the Payson mail. The Hashknife Riders will depart from Payson at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 31 for the final run to Scottsdale. On Friday, Feb. 1, around noon, they will arrive at the Hashknife Pony Express Statue in Scottsdale.
