Masonic Lodge

The Sy Harrison Masonic Lodge #70, located at 200 E. Rancho Road in Payson, meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. A dinner is held at 5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday for members, families and guests with an after-dinner program followed by the lodge’s Stated Meeting at 7 p.m.

Moose Lodge

The Loyal Order of the Moose meetings are at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The Women of the Moose meet at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month.

The lodge has a Thursday Fish Fry from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekly dinner specials are available.

Payson Elks Lodge

Elks members and guests are welcome to enjoy lunch at the lodge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; Friday dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday dinner from noon to 5 p.m.

Every Sunday there is bingo at 1 p.m. and a pool tournament at 4:30 p.m. with happy hour from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Elks members and guests are welcome at all the lodge events.

VFW meet July 2

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America will meet at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the American Legion Post #69, located at 709 E. Highway 260.

Payson Walkers

The Payson Walkers now meet at 8 a.m. daily for hour-long walks on pavement from various locations around town. Future meeting sites are: Wednesday, July 3, Walgreens; Thursday, July 4, Gila Community College, north parking lot; Friday, July 5, Senior Circle; Saturday, July 6, Payson Elementary; Sunday, July 7, Payson Public Library.

Rim Country 4 Wheelers

Members of the Rim Country 4 Wheelers invite anyone interested in four-wheeling to join them at 8 a.m. each Wednesday in the parking lot at the east end of Bashas’ by Jiffy Lube. Normally anywhere from four to a dozen or more members participate and the destination is usually determined at that time. Runs also occur once a month on a Saturday and the destination is usually predetermined at the prior month’s meeting.

Card players wanted

The Saving Graces of Payson — a canasta card-playing group — is looking for a few ladies who enjoy fun, laughter and friendship.

This Red Hat group meets at 10 a.m. the first Wednesday of every month at the Crosswinds Restaurant patio room. There is a break for lunch around noon and play resumes after lunch. Anyone interested in joining will be welcomed. You do not need to know how to play, the members will be happy to teach the game.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

The Payson Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group invites caregivers, families, service providers and members of the community to attend the support group meeting at Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main St., from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

The New Hope Grief Support Group is for those who have lost a spouse. It meets from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway.

Weight Watchers meets at 5 p.m. every Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge, 200 E. Rancho Road (next to the fire station).

Optimist Club

Rim Country Optimist Club usually meets the second Monday of each month at the Cedar Ridge Restaurant at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino.

The meetings start at 5:15 p.m. with dinner which is often followed by a speaker at 6 p.m. and the board meeting at 6:30 pm. Visitors are always welcome.

Rim Area Gardeners

The Rim Area Gardeners meet the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 401 E. Tyler Parkway. 

This month, Monday, July 8, Dean and Vee Gooding will speak on winter gardening, which will entail how to prepare your garden for winter.  The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Beyond Limits

Beyond Limits Disability Ministry will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 9 at First Assembly of God, 1100 W. Lake Dr., beside Green Valley Park. The evening will include a free dinner, music and an inspirational message featuring Mark Henning’s human videos.

Rim Country Celts 

The Rim Country Celts will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 11 at the home of John Munro. There will be a potluck dinner followed by the meeting.
