Members of the Payson Women’s Golf Association completed the second and final round of the annual President’s Cup Tuesday, June 23 with a very close competition. The tournament was won by one stroke by Kay Davis (net 136), PWGA’s eldest member (93 years young). The last time Davis won this tournament was more than 20 years ago.

The runner-up was Sharon Vaplon (137); Judy Mackenzie (139) took third; fourth place went to Judy McFall (141); in fifth place was Earlene Brewer (142). Nearest the pin winners were: Shari Cody (Hole 8) and Jeanne Griffin (Hole 14).

PWGA teams also competed this week in Northern Arizona Team Play at Silver Creek, Taylor — in high winds reminiscent of an English links course. In Gross Matchplay Team A (Karen Peterson and Claudia Thompson) won 12 points of 18, and Team B (Judy Mackenzie and Shari Cody) won 12.5 points out of 18.
