An Amazing Group

The Payson Little League All-Star 10-11 year team is an amazing group of boys and coaches.

They set out on their All-Star team journey by visiting Winslow. They knew they had a “rough” road ahead of them going into the tournament since many of them had played last year in Winslow on another All-Star team. They knew of the difficult teams they would face, the umpires from that area and the other team fans. To say the least it was an extremely “hostile” environment for these boys and their coaches.

Yet they faced their opponents and were courteous and professional in their game play. They took the field and their at bats and exhibited what a team sport is all about. Despite the many “bad” and obvious questionable calls by the umpires, they still faced their opponents with the utmost character and held their heads high. Showing their support for each other and displaying a true love for the game of baseball.

Congratulating the teams that they lost to even though these same teams were the ones who earlier showed their disrespect by chants and mocking them, coaches telling each other “I think we are going to beat them” and blatantly laughing out loud after such comments, our boys still expressed congratulations and good game to the opposing team members and coaches.

They showed integrity and the utmost good sportsmanship.

It was not in their cards to come home with a victory, but I for one want them all to know they are true champions. They played a great season and a great All-Star tournament.

Tyler, Austin, Joshua, Isaiah, Trezario, River, Micah, Isaiah W., Hunter, JC and Devin, thank you for such a wonderful season!

And last but not least, a big thank you goes out to the coaches Kacy, Tim and Tone for taking these boys and teaching them honesty, fairness, integrity and respect and instilling in them the love for the game of baseball. All of you are All-Stars in every meaning of the words!
