Payson Elks

Daily lunches served 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Payson Walkers

All hikes are scheduled for 8 a.m. daily and are an hour long on pavement. Please park away from the most used areas of any parking lot so as to not block businesses and/or clients. Meeting sites are:

Unity of Payson

Unity of Payson will have a Membership Sunday, at the 10 a.m. service July 14.

This is a celebration as the congregation officially brings its charter members into Unity of Payson.

Dr. Lynnette Brouwer will explore what it means in our lives and in the church to be committed to this spiritual community.

Christians Together

Christians Together is a ministry at Good Samaritan Retirement Village located on East Tyler Parkway. The ministry is directed toward the residents of Good Samaritan who are not able or do not wish to attend local churches

Anyone from the Payson area who would like to be a part of this assembly is welcome to attend as well. Worship is in the chapel at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday morning.

Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness

Guest speaker Barbara Polasky will offer a program on “My Greatest Gift” at the 11:15 a.m., Sunday, July 14 service of Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness. Polasky is a wellness practitioner using integrative and intuitive energy modalities.

Wisconsin Club

The Wisconsin Club is for anyone with a connection to Wisconsin. It meets for breakfast at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260 in the back room at 7:30 a.m., Monday, July 15.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 2 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community Room, 807 W. Longhorn Road (after turning in the main driveway, turn right at the first driveway. The Community Room is in the center of the apartment complex). There are no fees or dues. The only membership requirement is a desire to not compulsively overeat anymore.

Payson Flying Club

The Payson Flying Club will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, July 15 at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260. The meeting agenda includes seasonal flying changes through spring and into the summer and activity related to Payson’s September Aero-Fair. Visitors and prospective members always welcome.

Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

The Payson Buddhist Meditation and Study group meets from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday evenings at the Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness, 107 W. Wade Lane. Call (928) 595-1378 for additional information.

Pioneering Human Rights

Amnesty International is one of the oldest grass roots human rights organizations. The Payson Chapter will hold its regular monthly meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday July 15 at the Rim Country Literacy Center, 1101 S. Beeline Highway (behind the Knotty Pine Cafe). This month, members will plan the group’s Payson Rodeo Parade event as well as other human rights actions.

Payson Area Singles

The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch, a group of single men and women, meet at 9 a.m. every week, at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, to visit and plan future activities.

Every Saturday during the summer, members meet at Green Valley Park for the evening concerts. They gather to sit on the grass nearest the church beside the sidewalk. All singles are welcome.

The group’s monthly Birthday Potluck Picnic at Willow Springs Lake is Thursday, July 18. Members carpool from Stage parking lot at 11:30 a.m. For more information or to make suggestions for future activities, please contact Gene at (928) 476-4659.

Friendship Bible Class

Friendship Bible Class, a non-denominational Bible study for women, meets at 1 p.m. every Tuesday at Majestic Rim. All women in the community are invited. For information, call Marilyn at (928) 474-6712.

Payson Art League

The Payson Art League will meet at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 16. The program will consist of a round table discussion and demonstration of how to prepare painting surfaces, such as canvas, and how to use other supports like clay board for use in drawings, pastels, scratchboard, acrylics and oils. There will also be a discussion of how to seal finished works such as mixing and varied methods of application.

Rock Newcomb will lead the discussion. Newcomb is a local, well-known, award-winning artist who works primarily in acrylic.

Newcomb encourages everyone to come to the roundtable discussion with painting supports and art materials to work with and use for show and tell. Be sure to have your questions and suggestions ready, and pen and paper to keep up with all the ideas you may want to use later.

The public is invited to join art league members at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 16 at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Center, 807 W. Longhorn. Light refreshments will be served.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

The Payson Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group invites caregivers, families, service providers and members of the community to attend the support group meeting at Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Mayor to speak

Payson Mayor Kenny Evans will be speaking at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 17 at the meeting of the Democratic Club of Northern Gila County. The meeting is at the community room of the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Rd., Payson. The business part of the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Please note the time change. Garrett Retirees

Rim Country Garrett Retirees will meet Thursday, July 18 at Tiny’s, 600 E. Highway 260. Social hour begins at 11 a.m. with lunch served at noon.
