As many of you have heard, the wildland fire community lost 19 firefighters on June 30, 2013 while fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire. This is a loss that will be felt and remembered for many years to come. These men gave “ALL” so communities and citizens threatened by the fire could survive. They will be missed by everyone and our thoughts and prayers go out to their families and relatives.
Everyone in the firefighting community accepts the risk of injury and loss of life that is the nature of the job, but it doesn’t lessen the suffering of family and friends at the loss of a loved one. When we lose so many at one time, it brings the risk to such a level people around the world feel the loss.
We will carry on their work and will never forget their dedication to their department, their city, their crew.
