Cindy Long is most happy helping people.
From running errands, delivering the mail to chauffeuring clients to doctors’ appointments, these mundane tasks are done not with a frown, but a smile. In fact, everything about Long and her new business is bright and cheery. From the yellow happy faces that dot her business cards and pamphlets to the name, Happy Helpers.
“I like assisting seniors with some of the tasks that are just not fun or possible anymore,” she said.
In April, Long, 60, launched Happy Helpers LLC after leaving her post as the volunteer coordinator at Time Out Inc.
She was already helping seniors in her neighborhood, driving them around and making grocery visits, and decided to turn it into a business.
“I want to help the senior population by providing a service that can enrich their lives and remove some of the stress. And, I want to do this in a way that is affordable for most.”
Roughly 31 percent of Payson residents are 65 years and older, according to the U.S. Census. Many could enjoy life more if they didn’t have to worry about the everyday stresses, Long said.
That is where Long comes in. Long assists with all types of errands, household management, personal services, grocery delivery, bill pay, gassing the car to reading a client’s favorite magazine or book — the list goes on and on.
“No engagement is routine,” she said. “Day-to-day services are as varied and as unique as the client’s needs.”
Long holds an Arizona fingerprint clearance card, a state real estate broker’s license, medical assistant certificate and is also a licensed notary.
Most services are $15 an hour, with a one-hour minimum.
