Help Payson Community Kids and win a four-night cruise
Payson Community Kids (PCK) is a Non-Profit Organization that assists low-income, “at risk” families and their children. This year, PCK is sponsoring a raffle for a four- night cruise for two with Princess Cruise Line to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico, leaving from the Long Beach area.
There will only be 100 tickets sold at a cost of $100 each. The drawing will be held live on KMOG at noon, Wednesday, July 31.

Summer meals for kids
The nutrition office at Payson Unified Schools, along with the Arizona Department of Education, has two sites open this summer where kids 18 and under can have breakfast and lunch for free. Meals will be served at Rim Country Middle School and Payson Elementary School.
This program is open to all kids and this year parents who bring a child will also eat for free. Breakfast is from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and lunch is 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program continues through Friday, July 19. There will be no meals served July 4 and 5 due to the Fourth of July holiday.
Summer Recreation Program
Registration is open and continues through the course of the 2013 Summer Recreation Program presented by the the Payson Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.
The program is for children ages 6 to 12. Youngsters can be registered for one or all seven weeks. The program will be held in the Rim Country Middle School gym and incorporates fun, physical and cultural activities, along with occasional field trips. This is not a drop-in program; children must be pre-registered by Friday of the previous week. Lunch will be served each day.
Cost is $30 per child. Camp dates are: June 17-20, June 24-27, July 1-3 and July 8-11. The program goes from 8 a.m. to noon, Monday-Thursday, except where noted.

Free music Tuesdays

Senior Circle men’s program
Payson Regional Medical Center’s Senior Circle will present a Lunch and Learn program at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 for men only as the topic will be Men’s Health with Dr. Alan Michels. No women will be admitted to allow for a more comfortable discussion of men’s physical and sexual health.

Elks to host turkey dinner for all
The Payson Elks Lodge is having a Friends and Family Night at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 13. A complete turkey dinner will be served at a cost of only $5. Come all Elks and bring your friends. Those who are not Elks, please come and be our guest. You will not want to miss this. If you plan on coming, please call Mary Smith at (928) 468-8766 so that we will have plenty of food for all. There will be apple pie and pumpkin pie with ice cream for dessert. The lodge is a smoke free facility located at 1206 N. Beeline Highway.
Great gifts for Dad are on sale at LFOP Bookstore
During June the Library Friends of Payson Bookstore will be featuring a 2-for-the-price-of-1 special on all hardback books. This is a great opportunity to purchase a Father’s Day gift. Pick up a favorite VCR tape for 50 cents or browse the bargain table in the lobby. All bargain table items will be on sale for 25 cents.
Proceeds go to the Payson Public Library to support the purchase of new material and many special programs. Stock changes daily, so the wise shopper visits frequently. Free summer film series
A free Summer Matinee Film Series will be offered at 3 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday through June 27 at Gila Community College, 201 N. Mudsprings Road.

Shepherd of The Pines Lutheran Church is hosting a community breakfast from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., Friday, June 14 at 507 W. Wade Lane, Payson. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, coffee and juice.
Rim Country residents and visitors are invited for food and fellowship. A free will offering will be accepted.

Rotary golf tournament
Rim Country Rotary is hosting its annual golf tournament on Saturday, June 15 at the Payson Golf Course. Registration forms are available at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Payson Golf Course.
Yard sale donations sought
The Pine-Strawberry Riff Raff Club is accepting donations for its upcoming annual Naked Yard Sale, to be held June 15.
Bishop Storage Sheds has donated the use of two sheds for collecting and storing donations. The sheds, number 11 and 12, are located in Pine, behind Bishop Realty. The sheds will be open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the sale. The sale will be located by Payson Concrete.

Saturday Concert in the Park
Come out to the amphitheater area of Green Valley Park on summer Saturdays with your blankets and lawn chairs for great music under the stars. Performances start at 7 p.m. and refreshments are available for purchase.
June 15 - Blue Frog — If you are looking for foot-stomping, hand-clapping, jump-off-your-seat kind of music, Blue Frog is it!
June 22: Breaking Point — Playing a variety of music which includes Top 40, Jazz, Blues and Country.
The concert series will continue through July.
Vacation Bible School
First Southern Baptist Church, Payson

STEM Camp for students
The Second Annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Camp will be held from 8 a.m. to noon June 17 and 20 at Rim Country Middle School.

Amateur Radio Field Day
The Tonto Amateur Radio Association is once again participating in the annual, nationwide Field Day, sponsored by the American Radio Relay League.
The event is designed to hone communication skills needed for efficiency and, if need be, assistance to the local, regional, and, in some cases, national communities.
The public is invited to participate, including joining in actual ON-AIR operation (under direct supervision).
The Field Day will kick off with a talk show Q&A event on KMOG AM radio from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, June 22.
The official ARRL/TARA Field Day main event is a 24-hour exercise beginning at 11a.m. June 22 at Rumsey Park Ramada 5, 328 N. McLane Road, Payson (GPS: N 34.24535, by W 111.33385), which is just south of the Skateboard Park. The event concludes on Sunday, June 23.
APW Writers’ Retreat
