Golf is fun, but the month ending awards ceremonies are even more fun for the Payson Women’s Golf Association nine-hole members.
The most recent frivolity took place May 30 when the Lady Niners celebrated the accomplishments of members during four tournaments.
In a May 9 fewest-putt format, Donna Larson was first, Ann Adams second and Nancy O’Rourke third.
Debbie Nichols pocketed closest-to-the-pin prize money.
In a May 16 low net tournament, Larson was again first, Isabella Sockrider second and O’Rourke the runner-up for the second successive time.
Nina Szakal was the closest-to-the-pin prizewinner.
In a May 23 fielder’s choice shoot-out, Adams swung to first and Linda Teasley and Szakal tied for the silver medal.
Members gathered May 30 for a scramble that was won by the team of Bette Walgren Mary McEvoy and Adams.
Cece McCain, Brenda Cornell, Shirley Grady and Isabella Sockrider took second.
Flo Moeur, Debbie Nichols and Szakal teamed up for third.
Brookie Coleman was a closest-to-the-pin champ in both the May 23 and 30 tournaments.
Members also cited Szakal for a birdie and Sockrider for a chip-in.
