On June 12, a United Methodist Church group from Tucson donated time painting, cleaning and landscaping at the Time Out Shelter.
Eight people from the Vista De La Montana Methodist Church painted fences and picnic tables and helped haul trash, said Camille Levee, the shelter’s executive director.
The group was reportedly looking for areas that needed help and sent out a request to Methodist churches across the state. The Payson United Methodist Church responded and said the shelter could use a little sprucing up, Levee said.
“They accomplished a whole lot,” she said.
Levee added Time Out is still in need of new volunteers at the shelter and thrift store. There are openings for all shifts.
The thrift store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the shelter operates 24 hours.
“If you can give two to four hours, we need you,” said Edna Welsheimer, volunteer and marketing support specialist.
