No need to mess with glue and tape, but you’ll still want to roll up your sleeves when you settle in at Down the Street Art Gallery on Kite Night.
Visit the gallery at 703 W. Main St. between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., Friday, March 1 for the First Friday celebration featuring a chance to decorate a kite for the spring breezes.
About six guests at a time can work on their kites with markers that will adhere to the plastic. When they leave the gallery, guests will have their kites, tails and string to go along with their fun and festive creations — flight-ready for the first blustery day of March.
This is the first time the gallery has hosted a Kite Night and its members have given it air with several decorating their own kites for display in the gallery.
Member Jeff Wiles is contributing a box of kites from a past exhibit and the gallery is providing the markers, tails and string.
If there isn’t enough room for you to do a kite, just swing back by anytime between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., Friday, March 1. Enjoy the refreshments as well.
