State Is Interfering With Local Concerns

House Bill 2455, if passed, would require that all guns confiscated by the police, sheriff or other law enforcement agencies by sold. Even those turned in by the owner for destruction. It came out of the Majority Caucus on March 5 as “do pass.”

Contrary to the Republican Party mandate to limit government control, The Arizona Republic quoted our local state Representative Brenda Barton as saying the “Goal of the bill is to strengthen the state’s authority over local governments in regulating firearms.”

Apparently it is not a matter of smaller government, but a matter of who is in control. Other evidence of the state interfering with local concerns involves schools, birth control, taxes and a multitude of issues that should and could be solved on the local level.
