Tonto National Monument will open its ancient cliff dwellings at night from 5:30 to 7:30, Saturday, March 9, to offer visitors a rare opportunity to visit an ancient world.
The Lower Cliff Dwelling at Tonto National Monument will offer a glimpse of cliff dwellings at night, with rangers offering Native American stories about the night sky.
The Lower Cliff Dwelling trail is paved, but steep, gaining 350 vertical feet in elevation in a half mile to reach the Lower Cliff Dwelling. Bring a flashlight or headlamp for the walk to and from the dwelling.
No pets allowed for this special activity.
Park entrance gates will close to incoming traffic at 5:30 p.m., so get here early for this free evening activity.
