At least 800 people attended the 2013 Business Showcase making it a big success. Held at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino Event Center Saturday, the showcase was chaired by Judy Smith for the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, with Payson Regional Medical Center as its presenting sponsor and Rim Country Health as a contributing sponsor.
The evening before, 125 people attended the Preview Mixer and awarded the Best of Show and Best
Theme honors. Plant Fair Nursery won Best of Show and Desert Schools Credit Union was given the Best Theme award. The theme this year was Celebrating Seniors of All Ages. Those attending also awarded Plant Fair Nursery the People’s Choice honors, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, said owner Glen McCombs.
Student booths awarded were: Payson Education Center, first; Gila County 4-H, second; and Payson Youth Advisory Council, third.
Among the most popular booths with attendants were Canyon State Credit Union, which had a bowling game and Rim Country Health, offering massages by physical therapist Richard Staudt. The booth representing Healthy Perspectives also offered a chair massage.
Chamber manager John Stanton said the event featured 43 presenters, plus student booths and information stations.
Stanton said the organizers opened up the aisles by reconfiguring the draping between the booths, which gave everyone plenty of elbowroom to check out the presenters and visit with friends and acquaintances.
“I think everyone was ready to get out and about,” Stanton said of the impressive crowds.
