Payson Walkers

Payson Walkers start their excursions at 9 a.m. daily. The hour-long walks are on pavement. Everyone is welcome, just remember to park away from the most used areas of any parking lot so as to not block businesses/clients, etc.

Bunco at Elks

The Payson Elks will have Bunco on Saturday, March 23. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., play starts at 11 a.m. The cost is $15 per person and only 48 tickets will be sold. To find out more, stop by the lodge at 1206 N. Beeline Highway, or call (928) 474-2572.

Soroptimists selling See’s Candy for Easter

The Easter Bunny is coming to Payson.

See’s Candies, from the Soroptimists, will be available at the Women’s Wellness Forum, Saturday, March 23 from noon to 2 p.m. at the old gym at the high school; on Sunday, March 24 candy will be available at Walgreens Drugstore; and at 1100 S. Beeline Highway.

On Good Friday, members of the local Soroptimist club which sponsors these sales, will be at National Bank from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with candy for sale.

If you are running late, Walgreens will be the place for See’s Candies on Saturday, March 30.

Unity of Payson

The Rev. Kim O’Connor will lead the Unity of Payson service with her talk, “For Goodness Sake” at 10 a.m., Sunday, March 24. The lesson is to learn how living an amazing life requires that we refresh, re-know, and remember the incredible power of gratitude.

O’Connor is an ordained Unity minister and a graduate of the Ministerial Education Program at the Unity Institute. She is currently a hospital chaplain for Banner Health Care and a supporting minister at Inspirational Unity Church and Unity of Phoenix.

Republicans host Scott Flake

The Rim Country Republican Club will meet Monday, March 25 at Tiny’s Family Restaurant. Members and guests may gather at 11 a.m. to order lunch and to socialize. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. Scott Flake, financial advisor, will speak. His topic will be Money Management for Seniors.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays at the Rim Country Health and Retirement Community Room, 807 W. Longhorn Road (after turning in the main driveway, turn right at the first driveway. The Community Room is in the center of the apartment complex). There are no fees or dues. The only membership requirement is a desire to not compulsively overeat anymore.

Payson Lions Club

Payson Lions Charitable Foundation and its parent Payson Lions Club serve Rim Country by conducting service and fund-raising projects to help those in need of eye exams and eyeglasses as well as hearing exams and hearing aids.

We currently do a variety of service projects like stream and roadside cleanup, eyeglasses recycling, and eye and hearing screenings at the Annual Health Fair. Our largest fund-raising project consists of displaying American flags at local businesses and homes during seven holidays a year.

We are non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, a qualified charitable organization serving the working poor and a member of the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Membership in Lions is open to all adults interested in giving something back to their community. Ideas for improving our community are welcome. Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

The Payson Buddhist Meditation and Study group meets from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday evenings at the Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness, 107 W. Wade Lane. Call (928) 595-1378 for additional information.

NARFE meeting

The Mogollon Chapter 1235 of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees will hold its monthly no-host luncheon and meeting on March 27, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. The meeting is held at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson.

This month, Rob Ingram, a member of the Transition Payson Team, will be the speaker. All active and retired federal employees are invited to attend; don’t forget new members receives a free lunch. Please remember to bring nonperishable food for the Payson Food bank.

This group has no dues. Its Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets at Tiny’s Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, every week at 9 a.m. to visit and plan future activities.

Lamplighter event

There will be a Bunco game at 6 p.m., Saturday, March 30 at the Lamplighter in Star Valley. The cost is $5 per person and prize money is shared at end of evening.

Masonic Lodge

The Sy Harrison Masonic Lodge #70, located at 200 E. Rancho Road in Payson, meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. A dinner is held at 5:30 p.m. every second Tuesday for members, families and guests with an after-dinner program followed by the lodge’s Stated Meeting at 7 p.m.

“The Joys of Healthy Eating” is a hands-on, fun food prep class which meets at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday at Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness, 107 W. Wade Lane, Suite 2 behind the stairs, Payson. We will use existing recipes from raw and vegan cookbooks, and will create our own unique recipes as well.
