About 50 people participated in the hikes and other events presented in Pine as part of its second annual celebration of Arizona Trails Day April 27.

There were about eight volunteers who turned up at the Pine Trailhead to help with work on the trail.

“It was not designed to be a money-maker, but an educational event,” said coordinator Maureen Walsh.

She added the presentations by the fire department, search and rescue teams, Forest Service and others were all excellent.
