Computer group

All members and guests are invited to the Payson Area Computer Association’s next general meeting at 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 3 in the meeting room of the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Rd.

Brian Mckinnon and Chris Bennet of the Verizon Wireless My Bullfrog store in the Safeway Shopping Plaza will give a presentation on smartphones. They will explain Verizon’s Nationwide 65 Plus Plan and how users can have their smartphone utilize the home Wi-Fi router. They will bring examples of an iPhone, Windows Phone 8, and Android to help members understand the differences in the operating systems. The first meeting is always free and everyone is welcome. Payson Walkers

The Payson Walkers meet at 8 a.m. daily for an hour’s walk on pavement around the community.

The upcoming May walks: Saturday, May 4, meet at the west end of Longhorn; Sunday, May 5, meet at the Senior Circle; Monday, May 6, meet at library; Tuesday, May 7, meet at Green Valley Park; Wednesday, May 8, at Del Taco side of Walgreens.

Men’s fellowship breakfast

The Men’s Ministry of Ponderosa Bible Church host a breakfast at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 4 at the church. The menu consists of orange juice, French toast, link sausage, fruit bowl, coffee — all for only $1.

Gale Dawson will be the featured speaker. Dawson is a graduate of Northeast Baptist School of Theology and ministered for 22 years in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Zaire, and at one time known as the Belgium Congo. Currently Dawson serves as chaplain of the Payson Christian Clinic.

American Legion Riders

The American Legion Riders May meeting is at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 4 at Tiny’s Family Restaurant, 600 E. Highway 260, Payson.

Breakfast is at 9:15 a.m., with a business meeting to follow. This is the final meeting before the American Legion Riders Charity Fun Run, which will be May 11. All proceeds from this event will benefit the group’s sole charity, Payson Supply Line.

Native American Flute Circle meeting

The Native American flute is one of the easiest instruments to learn to play and produces some of the most beautiful music. Bring your flute, or just come and listen. Native drummers also welcome. The free event is at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4 at Tom Russell’s office behind Fargo’s Steakhouse, Suite D-3.

Payson Elks

Elks and their guests are invited to a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the lodge at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 4.

Dinner is $8 and features two cheese enchiladas, a taco, beans, rice, chips and salsa. At the bar there will be tequila and Corona beer specials for $1.50. Mexican music will be offered as well.

Unity of Payson

Join Unity of Payson at 10 a.m., Sunday, May 5 to hear Rev. Kim O’Connor, who will lead the service with her talk, titled, “Do Worry, Be Happy!”

Also this Sunday, the congregation will celebrate birthdays for the month of May and collect non-perishable items in as donations for the Payson Food Bank.

East Verde Baptist Church will be hosting Dickey Ministries Gospel Ministry at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, May 5.

Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness

Payson Area Singles

This group has no dues. Its Tuesday Morning Breakfast Bunch meets at The Journigan House every week at 9 a.m. to visit and plan future activities.

The group’s main activity in May is a potluck picnic birthday celebration for five of the members at Willow Springs Lake. The date has yet to be determined. Club members and guests will carpool from the Stage parking lot on E. Highway 260. For more information, call Lee at (928) 476-4659.

Senior Circle

Upcoming events at the Payson Regional Medical Center’s Senior Circle include:

Lunch and Learn about fibrocystic breast disease with Dr. Katharine Raymer, 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 8. Swollen, lumpy or painful breasts are a sign of fibrocystic breast disease. It is estimated that half of all women have this condition.

Rimstones Rock Club

The Payson Rimstones Rock Club meets Wednesday, May 8 at the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Rd. Starting time 2:30 p.m. for the board meeting and 3:30 p.m. for the regular meeting. The guest speaker will be Sandra Shover, who will demonstrate the art of wire wrapped jewelry.

TOPS moves

TOPS 0373 Payson (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter has changed its meeting place from Shiloh Christian Fellowship to the Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, Payson. The group still meets every Thursday morning.

The weigh-in starts at 7:20 a.m. and the meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 9:30 a.m.
