Rim seniors, their families and caregivers can learn about the many resources available at the Senior Connections Conference next week.

Taking place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, May 10 at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino, the program includes recognizing Alzheimer’s disease; the challenges and rewards of caregiving; and law enforcement concerns of impact to area senior citizens. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for check-in, a continental breakfast and a chance to visit the information tables.
Olivia Guerrero and Jeri Byrne welcome participants at 9:30 a.m. Guerrero is president and chief executive officer of the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens. Byrne is executive director of the Eastern Arizona Area Health Education Center. The two groups are co-sponsoring the conference with Cenpatico Behavioral Health of Arizona and the newly organized Rim Country Coalition Connecting Seniors in the Rim Country.
The contributions of seniors to the community will also be recognized .
After the lunch break, Carol Wilson will present a program on Care Giving Challenges and Rewards. Wilson is director of Independent Living Services with the Pinal-Gila Council for Senior Citizens.
The final program of the day will be by the Payson Police Department’s Chief Don Engler and Det. Michael McAnerny, who will discuss law enforcement concerns impacting Payson seniors.
